About Mrs. Jarentowski

Hello SFMS Students and Parents!

My name is JulieAnn Jarentowski, and I am honored to be serving the Sheboygan Falls School District in a variety of capacities including reading specialist.  The 2012-2013 school year marks my eleventh year at SFSD with six years at the elementary school and five years at the middle school. My passion has always been reading comprehension and all strands of literacy (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing) development from preK-adults.  It has never been about the age, but a passion for empowering others to be independent consumers and creators of literacy. I have been fortunate in my 18 years of teaching to have taught in a variety of school settings and at most levels thus widening my exposure and experience to teaching methods, content area classes, and the continuum of literacy development.

I am originally from the southwest-suburbs of Chicago and began my Wisconsin journey at St. Norbert College where I met my husband Michael.  I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Norbert’s and a master’s degree in reading from Cardinal Stritch University.  We are living in between our families with our two children and our cat.  My interests beyond family time and reading include: figure skating, traveling, history, and playing the flute.

Trivia: I used to compete in figure skating and ice dancing.  The marching band I participated in won the national title 3 out of my 4 years of high school. I have a vast amount of job experience beyond teaching: a produce clerk, short order cook, sales clerk, receptionist, paralegal secretary, accountant, merchandising assistant, receptionist, mail room clerk, business temporary agent, ice show director, and figure skating coach. I am blessed to have been to 35 states, 12 countries, and 4 islands.
