4K Program FAQs
Our vision is to provide all four-year old children with early learning opportunities to ensure life-long success by… supporting parents in their roles as the first and primary teacher of their child; embracing a wide-range of abilities and learning styles; encouraging on-going growth and development; and providing a safe, positive and nurturing environment.
There is no tuition for parents to pay to have their child in the SFC4K program. There is a $35.00 registration fee that will be collected during our summer registration dates. Additional costs may include school supplies and milk break fees. The YMCA offers exteded child care. Parents are responsible for these child care costs.
Bussing to and from the Sheboygan Falls Elementary School site may be available on existing bus routes in accordance with district bussing guidelines. Bussing to and from the Falls YMCA site will be provided by parents/caregivers.
SFC4K classes run from 7:55 – 11:05 AM OR 11:50 – 3:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The calendar year runs the same as the public school calendar.

No—a child must be four years of age on or before September 1 to participate in the program.
Children who meet the age eligibility for 5-year-old kindergarten are encouraged to enroll in that program; however, individual needs of children will be considered and a determination will be made on a case-by-case basis.
This is a decision that would need to be made on an individual, case by case basis. It would need to be done thoughtfully and carefully by a transition team that includes parents, teachers and other educational professionals.
Four year olds, whose parents reside outside of the School District of Sheboygan Falls, will be able to follow the open enrollment process IF their home district offers a 4 year-old kindergarten program. The open enrollment window begins in February.
Interested parents should contact the Sheboygan Falls District office at 920-467-7893 or visit the school website during the open enrollment window in February for additional information and an application.
Children will participate in developmentally appropriate activities that provide rich learning experiences. A focus on learning including play will allow children to gain skills in all areas including: social-emotional, cognitive, creative expression, early literacy and self-help. Teachers will use materials and curriculum that enhance those experiences through a hands-on approach.
Children in the SFC4K program will learn positive values with an emphasis on character education. This would include integrating life lessons on trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. The Wisconsin Model for Early learning Standards will be the guide for all curriculums.
The SFC4K recognizes parents as the first, continuing and most important teacher in a child’s life. As such, it is critical to our program that we offer opportunities for parent involvement within the classroom, extended learning for parents in after school workshops and family nights, parent-teacher conferences, written communication and other resources for parent support.
Yes–all community parents will be allowed to participate in parent involvement activities.
