Students worked with Math Specialist Mrs. Gehri this week on conceptualizing situations (such as cup stacking) that lead to a linear relationship that is non proportional. Students explored the rate of change, which is the increase per cup after the first cup. In the real world students engage in proportional relationships in recipes and hourly wages, and non proportional relationships in things like ride sharing or cell phone plans.
