SFMS welcomed guest speakers from the community on Tuesday for Career Day! Students in grades 5-7 were exposed to 4 different careers based on the results of a career inventory survey they completed earlier in the year. Thank you to all of the community members for volunteering their time to give our students this opportunity.

Family and Consumer Science and Spanish paired up to prepare a healthy, delicious, and culturally significant dish! Students learned safe knife cutting skills and about the cultural significance of Pico de Gallo and then were able to work together to prepare and enjoy this salsa!

Students in grade 6 applied their knowledge of understanding rational numbers as a point on a number line, by keeping score in the game of cornhole. The teams then used precise mathematical language to express scores in terms of greater than less than. We love when our students see the connection of math to their everyday life.
