Deaf Awareness Week is celebrated annually during the last full week of September. The official name is International Week of the Deaf (IWDeaf), but it is often referred to as Deaf Awareness Week. The week is celebrated by individuals, local communities, and national and regional associations of the deaf around the world. It highlights key issues and achievements within the deaf community, and serves as a platform to advocate for the rights of deaf people. This year the SFHS participated by learning and sharing some ASL signs.
