Welcome Robert!
Our grade 8 mathematicians used vertical learning spaces this week to compare and contrast side lengths, angle measures, and areas using rigid transformations to explain why a shape is or is not congruent to another. The math department is committed to taking the learning out of the desks to increase student engagement and make our math learning visible to all.

Algebra students today worked with Math Specialist Mrs Gehri on coaching each other through common misconceptions they had within the Unit 1 pre-assessment. Students got the opportunity to share their personal thinking and strategies and fellow classmates could then ask clarifying questions as they dove deeper into identifying the median and the Interquartile Range in various data sets such as dot and box plots.
